Our Team

Originally from Columbia, South Carolina, William spent the first eighteen years of his life there. 

An upbringing in the south-east established the core ethical and family fundamentals that are still ever present in his life today. Attending a small school from kindergarten through high school graduation instilled an understanding of how to learn and the importance of education. Athletic opportunities that were made available during that period of his life sparked interests that are still vibrant today in skiing, biking, running, swimming and tennis. Combined with the strong family relationships that were formed during that period of life, accountability and responsibility blossomed and still persist today.

Upon graduation from high school, William remained in the south-east, attending Hampden Sydney College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a minor in Economics in 1996. Another small and intimate education setting further stressed the ability to learn and the importance education. Much of his success in life and within the mortgage industry can be attributed to the education received from grade school through college.

In 1996, William headed west for one proverbial ski season. William landed in Vail Colorado which he is still happily calls his home.  A brief stint in the restaurant industry was much enjoyed but short-lived. By selling newspaper advertising for three years, his teeth were cut on the ways of the business world. Upon furthering business skills, obtaining computer technician and networking certifications, William landed an entry level job in the mortgage brokerage business in 2002. A big leap of faith was taken in 2004, when his started own mortgage brokerage business The DesPortes Mortgage Group.

The DesPortes Mortgage Group successfully remained in business from June 2004 through June 2011. In June 2011, William proudly made the transition to Central Rockies Mortgage Corporation where he still hands his mortgage license today. 

​

William and his wife met in Vail and have been happily married since 2003. They now call Edwards their home where they are raising their two beautiful daughters. Family is the main focus of their lives. Time with each other, their daughters, immediate family and friends is spent skiing, camping, swimming, hiking, riding bicycles, running and playing in parks and in general just taking advantage of and being thankful for all of the wonderful opportunities the Vail Valley has to offer.

Rob Grems has over 18 years experience as a mortgage specialist with an extensive background in banking and finance. Since 1998 Rob has been a part of the Central Rockies Mortgage team and has worked diligently to build a reputable and respected name for himself and the firm. He has accomplished this by providing focused and attentive service that meets the needs of his clients in a timely, professional and personable manner.

For every client, Rob brings an energetic and aggressive approach to his work. Rob takes the time to diligently research current market conditions on behalf of all his clients. It is this commitment to his clients that drives Rob to “know the market” and be labeled a “Mortgage Specialist”.

David Francis-Lau, aka David Lau, is a graduate of California Polytechnic State College Pomona with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in International Marketing. His finance experience dates back to 1988 in Los Angeles, California. He has worked with small Savings and Loans Banks to nationwide Banking institutions. David moved to Avon, Colorado in 1993 to pursue his passion for snowboarding and mountain living. David joined the Central Rockies Mortgage team in 2003 and enjoys the personal service and interaction he can provide a client from start to finish.
